7% Growth in leaflet promotions in KSA during Second Quarter of 2022

The leaflet offers promoted during quarter two of 2022 can give us insights on customer trends for the post Covid Era. The quarter saw a 7% rise in promotion offers over the same quarter of 2021 marking a comeback of physical promotions.

Week 21, 29th May to 4th June, a Non-Ramazan Week, recorded the highest numbers of offers during the quarter.

  1. Grocery- 16.4%
  2. Health and Beauty- 12.9%
  3. Electronics- 10.5%
  4. Frozen Foods- 9.8%
  5. Home Furniture and Pets- 8.6%

Four categories contributed 50% of the offers, namely with Grocery (16.4%). Health and Beauty (12.9%), Electronics (10.5%) & Frozen foods (9.8%). Apart from the top four, at number five was Home, Furniture and Pets (8.6%) and all others made up for approximately (41.8%). Out of the top four categories, the top three categories included Groceries, Health and beauty and Electronics which include mobile phones in Saudi Arabia were fairly consistent to 2021.

The Frozen Foods category recorded a significant increase of 25% in offers, followed by Bakery goods with a 21% jump, whereas, Paper & Disposables fell by 11%.

It is also worth noting that the top 5 products vary considerably from 2021.

2021 also indicated a similar contribution from the 7 retailers mentioned above

Just 5 Brands contributed a whopping 55% in offers in the Frozen Foods category

With the return to normality, we expect the increasing trend of total offers to continue for the rest of the year.
